Cinco de Mayo Churros.

1 cup of water

2 tbsp. white sugar

2 tbsp. butter

½ tsp. salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 quarts vegetable oil (for frying)

½ cup white sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

dipping sauce

sweetened condensed milk


1. Over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, butter and salt in a small saucepan. Bring these ingredients to a boil and then remove from the heat.

2. Immediately add in the flour and stir together until these ingredients form a cohesive ball of dough.

3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan until it reaches 375 degrees F.

4. Load the churro dough into a pastry bag and (carefully!) pipe out long strips into the hot oil (using scissors to cut the dough apart.) Fry for about 10 minutes – until deep golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

5. Lastly, roll the hot churros in your cinnamon sugar mixture. Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk and enjoy!
